Toptech’s 2021 Partnership with the Boys & Girls Club

Toptech Systems’ passion for continual improvement and high impact solutions extends to a commitment to helping the communities in which they work. With the US headquarters in Longwood, FL, a city just outside of Orlando, Toptech is proud to have worked with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida (BGCCF) for the last seven years. BGCCF provides a safe and engaging after school and summer program for children between the ages of 6-18 from disadvantaged neighborhoods.

Recently, in partnership with the IDEX Foundation (IDEX Corporation’s charitable giving arm), Toptech employees provided a new Boys & Girls Club location in Oviedo, FL with a raised fruit and vegetable garden and shed. Following COVID-19 protocols, employees worked together to build the shed, secure it to the building, and prep each garden bed for planting. They then led the children as they excitedly planted broccoli, swiss chard, tomatoes, carrots, strawberries, red cabbage, and more. The kids listened closely as they learned how to care for their new plants, and they look forward to bringing healthy food home.

Earlier this year, Toptech was able to assist in opening the new Oviedo Boys & Girls Club. Through the IDEX Foundation, Toptech donated and helped install all the technology for the Club, which included 15 computers, two 65” TVs and one 55” TV. This donation will serve the kids in their new location for years to come as they research, do their homework, play educational games, and more. Toptech Systems also donated resources to provide the kids with food and water during their first few months of operations.

The garden project was Toptech’s first opportunity to work with the children in person since March of 2020, when Toptech hosted a girls empowerment event for the Altamonte Springs location. Toptech adapted to circumstances in 2021 by hosting a virtual career discovery event. Toptech sent the Altamonte Springs Boys & Girls Club pizza and prizes. Then, over a video call, led the Middle School children through a quiz that suggested various STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) careers in the oil and gas industry based on each child’s interests and preferences. Toptech employees provided more information about each career and enjoyed answering questions and engaging with each child through the screen. Toptech also participated in a virtual book drive which benefited the Sanford Boys & Girls Club.

Arianna Harris, Marketing Communications Manager and Volunteer Coordinator for Toptech Systems stated, “Working with the Boys & Girls Clubs is an important part of our culture, so it was wonderful to be able to safely interact with the children again and see the excitement over their new garden. We look forward to doing even more with our local Boys & Girls Clubs in 2022.”
