WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Multiload II+ is the newest iteration of Toptech Systems’ world-class batch controller/preset. Multiload II+ provides even more durable hardware, user-centric design improvements, more convenient expansion, and is designed for the future. If you’re thinking about upgrading, here’s what you need to know.
WHY UPGRADE?
The new units are more powerful, more resilient, more user-friendly and more flexible. These should be great reasons to upgrade, but if you’re still using the older Multiload II, be aware that Toptech will no longer sell those units after Q4 2024. While Toptech will continue to support the legacy units until 2030, it will become harder to keep spare parts available during this timeframe, so now would be the time to plan your hardware upgrade.
WHAT’S CHANGING?
Keypad. Users have told us that they love physical keypads, which are easier to use in harsh environments and less prone to failures. The Multiload II+ features an enhanced alphanumeric keypad, with more durable larger keys to increase usability, a dedicated “START” key for improved safety, and expansion function keys for future updates.
Display. Size matters, and we’ve increased the screen size substantially in both Multiload II+ models.
Enclosure. The Multiload II+ enclosure has increased corrosion resistance to address salt exposure and marine applications. In addition, the bottom mounting and conduit entries are identical to the Multiload II enclosures for easy replacement. The unit also includes removable mounting feet.
Card reader. The external, side mounted non-captive reader assembly is designed to easily accommodate proximity cards or other access control technologies in the future.
Internal I/O expansion options. One of the most popular features is the ability to install FCM II flow control modules within the Multiload II+ enclosure. There is no longer a need to depend on custom internal I/O boards. The new enclosure can fit up to two meter-modules (p/n 1774) or any combination of four FCM II units in support of nearly any single or double meter / arm configuration. If your operational needs expand, additional FCM II modules can be installed in an external enclosure, saving the time and expense typically associated with purchasing additional presets or custom I/O boards.
WHAT’S NOT CHANGING?
Firmware and Menu Driven Interface. The Multiload II+ and Multiload II firmware is identical. This was intended to make upgrading easier and the learning curve much faster. Toptech will continue releasing firmware with new features and functionality, as we have in the past.
Compatibility. The Multiload II+ preset is backwards compatible with Toptech’s TMS6 and TMS7 terminal management systems. Upgrading the Multiload II+ does not normally require a software upgrade. Please feel free to contact your sales representative with any questions you may have. It’s worth noting Multiload II+ is also forward compatible with the upcoming Multiload III firmware.
NEXT STEPS?
Multiload II+ integrates with many terminal automation systems and host systems by virtue of its open communication protocol, so whether you are upgrading from a legacy Multiload or replacing a preset from another manufacturer, Toptech can help make the transition easier.
