Toptech products were recently selected as part of the Port of Wilmington, CA’s TWIC pilot testing program. The range of Toptech TWIC products are used in conjunction with the TMS automation system which serves as the Physical Access Control System (PACS).
This project, while still in the early stages, represents an exciting opportunity to utilize TMS (PACS), RCU II (TWIC Reader), and veriFID II (Fingerprint Reader) in a real-world, terminaling environment.
Currently, Toptech’s TMS is being utilized to register users and TWIC card data and RCU II is being used to control gate access. By mid-May, Toptech’s veriFID II will be utilized for full biometric access control at fixed entry points. In addition, TMS has been enhanced to integrate with third-party handheld device software. This enhancement provides the ability to consolidate log data centrally in TMS for integrated reporting of both fixed (Toptech) and handheld (third-party) device data.
